We’ve said it before, so you might know that we have lots of affordable places to stay, savory cooking in locally-owned restaurants, and plenty of ways to enjoy the best of summer. But the Fourth brings its own fun ways to celebrate, and you already have enough to plan—so we prepared a list of the most exciting Fourth of July events in Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Lake Junaluska, Canton, and Clyde for you to enjoy.
July 2-4. The folks at Lake J are bringing a lot of excitement to Haywood this year! Festivities start at 7pm on the 2nd with a clogging performance at the lakeside tent and then wish lanterns launching at 8:45pm. The next day on Saturday the 3rd you can enjoy activities like the flotilla contest and a live performance in the evening by Balsam Range. On Sunday, July 4th Lake Junaluska will have live music and fireworks in the evening.
The July 4 parade was not scheduled for 2021 due to uncertainty around gathering restrictions because of the global pandemic. At the time of planning, large outdoor gatherings were still not able to take place.
July 3. The festivities on Main Street will feature live music and entertainment throughout the downtown district. At 11am, the “Kids on Main” children’s parade will start at the courthouse and make its way down Main Street, sign ups are at 10am at the Haywood County Courthouse. The Haywood Community Band will be performing at 2pm on the courthouse lawn. Stroll the streets and enjoy and the delicious restaurants and unique galleries and shops Waynesville has to offer!
July 4th. As soon as the sun goes down on July 4th, the night sky above the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds will be lit with dazzling displays of color for everyone to enjoy. All you need to bring is your blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets and yard games when the gates open at 6:00pm and settle in for a spectacular fireworks show. If you’re looking to fuel up properly for this spectacle, consider swinging by one of the many fantastic restaurants in Maggie Valley beforehand.
July 5. Downtown Canton is putting its own twist on the holiday with a day full of free events, live music, delicious food and, of course, fireworks. Events begin at Sorrell’s Street Park at 6pm and fireworks to follow at dusk. Tag #HAYNOW in your pics for the chance to be featured on our socials!
