Get Your Spook On with these October 2017 Events

Was that a zombie moan or the trees creaking? Did you see that? What’s in the trees? Do you feel like someone is watching us? If you’re feeling like getting your spook on this October, then these October events are for you. Haunted tours, pumpkin carving, costume parties and more! Check out our full list of events here.

October 13 

Zombie Skate @ Smoky Mountain Sk8way, 6-10pm
19025 Great Smoky Mountain Expwy, Waynesville, NC
Come dressed as a Zombie and skate for FREE! (Skates not included – skate rental $3). All ages welcome. There will be a best zombie costume contest, zombie themed snacks, dancing, arcades, and more.

Hauntingly Terrifying & Tragic History Tour @ Leap Frog Tours, 8pm
This driving tour will take guests throughout Waynesville to hear the creepy side of Waynesville’s history. From Green Hill Cemetery to the Pigeon Street Hospital as well as several other stops, tour guests will learn about murders, ghosts, and the “blue death’s” (the Spanish flu’s) effect on Haywood County.  This tour is ideal for those 16 and older and involves some walking. $35

October 14

Pumpkin Carving Contest @ Bearwaters Brewing, 10am
101 Park St, Canton, NC
From now until the 14th swing by Bearwaters to purchase a locally grown competition pumpkin. You can take it with you, but you must get your carved pumpkin back to the brewery for judging before October 14th. Judging will be on the 14th at 10am.

October 15

Oktoberfest @ The Water’n Hole, 8pm
796 N Main St, Waynesville, NC
Dress up in you best Oktoberfest themed attire and participate in games, prizes, and great beer.

Cemetery Hayride & Ghost 2hr Tour @ Leap Frog Tours, 6:30pm
This tour is ideal for families with kids eight years and older.  With a hayride to an old cemetery at the beautiful Appalachian Farm in Waynesville, guests will arrive at a campfire to enjoy cookies and cider while listening to ghost stories and legends about Waynesville. $35 for adults, $25 for kids 8-12.

October 16

Halloween Zumba Dance Party @ Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center, 11:45-12:30pm

Join ZUMBA instructors for a glowing, spooky class of dancing and fun! Costumes are optional – but also encouraged!

October 19-29

Zombie Prom the Musical @ HART Theatre
250 Pigeon St. Waynesville, NC
This musical is set in the atomic 1950’s at Enrico Fermi High where the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal. Pretty senior Toffie is forced to end her romance with the class bad box and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. Songs in the style of the 50’s hist keeps the action rocking.

October 20

October 21

Ghosts & Growlers Costume Party @ Shelton House, 7-11pm
49 Shelton St, Waynesville, NC

October 26-28, 31

Waynesville Paranormal 3.5hr Tour @ Leap Frog Tours, 8pm
Leap Frog Tours has teamed up with the TLC Sisters of the Paranormal from Canton to tour several locations in Waynesville that are thought to be haunted, such as the Mountaineer Publishing building and the courthouse square. Dannehl will tell tour guests the spooky–and sometimes tragic–history of each location, and the TLC Sisters will use their paranormal ghost-hunting tools to investigate and possibly connect with the spirits.  This tour is ideal for those 16 and older and involves some walking. $70

October 27-31

Meet Leatherface from Chainsaw Massacre 3 @ Pinhead’s Graveyard

Pinhead’s Graveyard is WNC’s Longest Running and Premier Outdoor Haunted House. R.A. will be taking pictures with victims and have autographs available for purchase. Come out and meet a true Horror Icon!

REACH Halloween Party @ Mad Anthony’s Taproom, 7pm

Downtown Waynesville merchants open their doors for trick-or-treaters on Halloween evening. This is a safe and fun adventure for young costumed children and their parents to stroll the sidewalks in search of delicious candy and special treats.
