Cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway

Roll down those windows and take a deep breath of that fresh Appalachian air. These 469 miles of winding roads will have you ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the beautiful views. For the most Instagram-able spots, make sure you pull over at one of the many scenic overlooks to snap a pic. Consider exploring the wonders of the Pisgah National Forest while you’re at it. Spend all day taking in the treasures of the Blue Ridge Parkway cruising in your convertible or taking an easy ride on your chopper. Either way, there are plenty of sights you won’t want to miss.

Take in more of Haywood

Maybe we’re a little biased, but if you love Maggie Valley as much as we do, then you should explore all it has to offer. From discovering unique art collections at Different Drummer Pottery to giving your best swing at Maggie Valley Carpet Golf, we’ve got attractions for every age. And let’s not forget one of the best parts of vacation…the food! Whether you’d prefer to nestle into an upscale dining experience at Frankie’s Italian Trattoria for a romantic night out or you’re bringing the family along to catch some of the best homestyle eats in the County at Pop’s Place Biscuits, Burgers & BBQ, our town has something to soothe every appetite. Plus, when it comes to convenience, Maggie Valley is just a short drive from the nearby towns of Waynesville and Lake Junaluska. Swing by Downtown Waynesville to explore the Art Trail or explore the town’s six districts, each with its own personality. If you’re looking for watersports or a more chill pace, head over to Lake Junaluska to take a shot at paddleboarding or canoeing. Just remember to “Keep Calm and Paddle On.” Venture to Canton for a charming downtown walk or discover the history of Western North Carolina in Clyde. Don’t want to travel far? Stay right at home in Maggie Valley and catch all the elk-citement.

Go for Gatlinburg

Explore the other side of the Smokies and take in their lively attractions. Gatlinburg is a short 90-minute drive from Maggie Valley. Much like Maggie, they have tons of activities for families and friends. Consider visiting their aquarium, taking a ride on their mountain coaster, or drive a little further to the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge. Make sure you tell our Gatlinburg folks we said, “Howdy!”

Wander your way to Asheville

Take another short drive to the hoppin’ city of Asheville. This city is known for its beer selection and has more breweries per capita than any city in the U.S. Not into ales? No worries. They also have attractions like the Biltmore Estates, plus a great music and arts scene. With just a short 35-minute cruise from Maggie, it’s the perfect place to swing by during your stay.

Venture to Bryson City and Sylva

Bryson City is home to the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad which runs through the picturesque countryside of Western North Carolina. During the winter, this locomotive transforms into the Polar Express for a holiday experience your family won’t forget. To cool off in the summer, stop by the Nantahala Outdoor Center for whitewater rafting and outdoor fun along the river. Speaking of waters, if you want to keep the fun flowing, head on over to Sylva, NC. This mountain town is known for its fly-fishing trail with 15 spots for catching trout. You can also enjoy shopping, restaurants, breweries, and year-round events. These destinations will delight your day trip!
