How to Celebrate the #SpiritOfTravel with a Haywood Staycation

This week we recognize National Travel & Tourism Week by focusing on the Spirit of Travel. The Haywood County Tourism Development Authority (known as Visit NC Smokies) sends our appreciation to our hospitality partners and community. We are all staying Haywood Strong, with confidence that everyone will make it through this together. Folks are anxious to visit our spectacular mountains and when it’s safe, we will invite them to return. Our “spirit” will shine through as we welcome them back.

Haywood County Tourism Stats:

As a result of tourism, the tax savings per Haywood County resident is $276.84.

We feel truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place in this world. Visitors are constantly reminding us that we in fact LIVE in a vacation destination. So as we stay close to home, we encourage you to rediscover our amazing county. Take a moment to remember the first time you realized how beautiful the sweeping mountains views are. Get out in your backyard and take a hike, visit a waterfall you haven’t seen since you were a kid, take in the wildlife that surrounds us. We’ve curated a checklist to help your rediscover Haywood County once it’s safe to explore and support the local businesses that are our community’s heart. Pull out your camera, take some photos and share them with us using #haynow. We can’t wait to see your Spirit for Travel in your own hometown!

The outdoors is great for healing and uplifting your mental state. We encourage you to engage in outdoor activities, including walking, hiking, running, golfing, hunting, fishing, or biking. Continue to practice social distancing for the time being, keeping 6ft apart from others not including your family or those you live with, wear face coverings in indoors spaces, and no gathering of more than 10 people.
