February 14 will be here before you know it, but don’t panic: you still have plenty of time to plan a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway to Waynesville with your sweetie. There aren’t many destinations naturally suited for an intimate weekend trip, but our slice of the Smokies is definitely one of them. Make new memories or rediscover the reasons you fell in love in the first place with the help of our V-day 2019 guide below!

Backyard at Andon-Reid Bed and Breakfast

Stay in Solace

Rest your head at one of our famed bed and breakfasts for a simpler, cozier stay. You really can’t go wrong with any of them—although all of their owners bring a different sense of personality to their homes, they all promise exceptionally good care. Plus, most offer a special romance package that comes complete with rose petals on the bed, an assortment of chocolates, and pre-made picnic baskets. And lucky for you, we made a bed-and-breakfast guide to help you pick the perfect home away from home.

For the Show-Goers

Relive your first movie date memories and go see a show! Stop by The Strand, a boutique downtown movie theatre, which boasts a concession stand filled with locally-brewed beers, ice cream, and a lineup of critically-acclaimed flicks. If you’d rather take in a live performance, HART Theatre is only a short drive from the shops on Main Street and features some of the best talent in the region. This year, you can catch the Gin Game at HART between February 15-17.

Wine and Dine

No Valentine’s Day is complete without a quiet, candle-lit dinner. Many of Waynesville’s fantastic local restaurants are offering specials to help you celebrate. Wherever you end up, make sure you follow your meal with a savory dessert or a trip to Kandi’s for a sweet treat. Finally, make plans to end the night with a glass (or bottle) of wine. The Classic Wineseller pairs wine with live music Friday and Saturdays, and Bosu’s Wine Shop will hand-pick the perfect bottle just for you.

Take in the Views

If you haven’t experienced the magic of a winter hike, now is as good a time as any! Despite the lower temperature, hiking nearby trails is a good active date idea to do while you’re in town for Valentine’s Day. It’s even more enjoyable if you pick up a pre-made picnic basket from Sunburst Market before heading out on your trek. Please be cognizant of incoming weather patterns and dress appropriately when planning a winter hike!

Sample our Finest Roasts

If the weather is especially chilly, stop into one of our local coffee shops to warm up with a hot cup of joe and a fresh-baked pastry. These shops source locally-roasted beans to ensure freshness and quality. We promise you’ll love spending quality time with your sweetheart in the cozy atmosphere, no matter which shop you choose.

If you’ve been left with the planning duties for this year’s Valentine’s Day, we’ve got plenty of romance for you to work with here. But it’s a great place to get away to regardless of what time of year it is! Make sure to catch up with our blog for even more inspiration for your next trip.
