We promise you will discover there is plenty of fun to be had in the NC Smokies on your next “mancation.”

Mountain Mancation Itinerary

DAY ONE

Mountain Heritage Trout Waters
They say the early bird gets the worm . . . well, so do the trout! Purchase a three-day, $7.00 fishing license to fish in the designated Mountain Heritage Trout Waters in Waynesville and Maggie Valley. This special three-day license can be purchased online at www.ncwildlife.org or by telephone Monday– Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. at (888) 248-6834. Did you forget your fishing pole and tackle box? No worries! Stop by the Maggie Valley Visitor Center and pick up a free tackle box filled with six lures/flies and you can borrow either a fly rod or a spinner rod.

Purchase Knob Hike
After lunch, stop by the Maggie Valley Visitor Center and pick up a Purchase Knob Hiking Guide. This beautifully illustrated map was created by a local certified naturalist and highlights one of Haywood County’s best hiking gems. Purchase Knob offers a wide range of biodiversity and other appealing aspects all encompassed in a four-hour roundtrip hike. Easy to Moderate grade.

Maggie Valley Opry House

Almost hidden from view on Route 19, the Maggie Valley Opry House may be a simple building, but is full of authentic musical character. From May through October, the Opry House features live traditional bluegrass and mountain music most often accompanied by legendary bluegrass artist, Raymond Fairchild. DAY TWO

Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum
62 Vintage Ln., Maggie Valley 28751
The Wheels Through Time Museum is home to a premier collection of rare American vintage motorcycles and other classic transportation displays. The museum houses over 300 of America’s rarest and most historic classic motorcycles, with over 24 marquees on display, including the likes of Harley-Davidson, Indian, Excelsior, Crocker, Henderson and much more.

Time to Tee Off!
Haywood County is home to five incredibly scenic golf courses, so take your pick! No matter which one you choose, you are in store for a challenging afternoon with the guys. Set up a tee time for an afternoon of 9 holes or block out the entire day for a full 18.

Check Out Our Craft Breweries!
You must be getting thirsty! Haywood County is the proud home of four homegrown microbreweries: Boojum Brewing, BearWaters Brewing, Frog Level Brewing, and Tipping Point Brewery and Tavern. Each has its own distinct taste, so spend the evening at one (or more) trying their various taps. Order up a frosty flight and don’t forget to grab a growler of your favorite to take home. Several of the breweries offer live music and entertainment on various nights of the week so hang around and see what is going on that night.
