Led by two local guides, Kevin Burke and Howard Browers, participants will learn about the county's native and migrating birds, how to identify their call, and, of course, view them. The Friends of the Lake 5K Road Race & Walk  is a charitable event to support the recreation opportunities of Lake Junaluska through the Friends of the Lake program. Profits support the annual maintenance and improvement of the recreation areas so that Lake Junaluska continues to be a place where the community can enjoy the walking trail, gardens and breathtaking vistas.
