Around here, we feel like coffee is a sacred ritual. It helps us get going in the morning, allows us keep going in the afternoon, and gives us a really good excuse to enjoy a pastry and some time with friends.
Lucky for us, there are many unique and cozy spots to grab a cup of coffee in Waynesville. Whether you’re looking for a quick brew to go or want to savor a latte with friends, you’re sure to find a spot to call your new favorite. We’ve rounded up some of the best coffee spots around town to help make the decision just a little easier.
Panacea Coffee House
All it takes is one look at their Instagram feed to want to stop by Panacea Coffee House. Located in Waynesville’s historic Frog Level district, Panacea is located in a refurbished warehouse that overlooks Richland Creek. They’ve taken full advantage of the view, too: grab a latte or your favorite tea and step outside on the back deck to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere underneath a canopy of trees. They also have a delicious menu of breakfast and lunch options if you’re in need of a bite to eat. Check back for their weekly specials and make it your mission to taste through everything you can.
Smoky Mountain Coffee Roasters
When you walk in the door to Smoky Mountain Coffee Roasters, you’ll smell exactly where their name came from. Inside, you can enjoy fresh brewed coffee, specialty espresso drinks, and organic teas, or indulge yourself and try one of their weekly featured creations. If you’re hungry, try some of their pastries or specialty pimento cheese. Like what you’re drinking? Grab a pound of beans to take home!
The Lounge at the Strand
You may be thinking, “Wait. Isn’t The Strand a movie theater?” And you’d be right! But we can guarantee that they have one of the best concessions stands you’ve ever seen in a theater. Even if you’re not planning on seeing a movie, it’s worth a visit. Order your favorite coffee from their full espresso bar, or treat yourself to their incredible craft-churned ice cream. If you’re sticking around for a movie, consider trading your coffee for a cold beer or glass of wine—because why not?
On the Depot Street hill and across from the Haywood County Courthouse, you’ll find this gem: Orchard Coffee. Award-winning latte artist Cabell Tice opened up his coffee shop in May of 2019, with hopes of providing delicious, art-inspired coffee and a relaxing atmosphere to Waynesville. One step inside will tell you that he’s achieved this with no problem.
It’s hard to decide where to begin when talking about Sunburst Market. It’s really you’re one-stop-shop for all things food related in Waynesville! Grab a fresh-brewed cup of coffee while you browse, and add a bag of beans to your basket, too. As you sip, explore their excellent selection of North Carolina trout: from smoked dips to caviar to marinated filets, this is another local flavor you won’t want to leave without.
